Clean Water Design Challenge

In the 2021-2022 Clean Water Challenge, college students have been tasked with reducing E. coli and/or excess nutrients in local waterways. We are working with two teams from Colorado School of Mines and several volunteer professionals from various partnering entities.  Teams will present their solution in April 2022- we are excited to see what the teams come up with!

Nautilus 2

After a successful pilot of the half-scale prototype in 2019, plans are underway to design and build Nautilus 2 and install it in the Cherry Creek. In addition to collecting in-stream trash, the device will also be used to increase community awareness and understanding of trash related issues in our local waterways. Our goal is to have this new device installed and operational in 2022!

Denver One Water Plan

The Denver One Water Plan was a collaboration among utilities, government agencies and other key stakeholders working to align goals and strategies for holistic water resources management in the Denver Metro area. A primary aim of the DOWP is to promote healthy watersheds in an equitable, economically, and environmentally beneficial manner. There was significant engagement and participation from stakeholders, as well as the public, through its virtual meetings and surveys. The plan was released to the public in October 2021, and can be viewed online. In 2022, the focus will shift to implementation projects according to the principles laid out in the plan. Thank you to all of the partners who made this plan possible: The City and County of Denver, Denver Water, Mile High Flood District, Metro Water Recovery, TGF, Colorado Water Conservation Board.

Advisory Committees

TGF continued to participate as a community leader offering professional engagement and expertise on a variety of advisory committees in 2021. Examples include: Metro Basin Roundtable, Denver Water’s Lead Reduction Program Advisory Committee, and Denver One Water Plan Core Planning Team.

TAP-IN Colorado

TAP-IN Colorado convenes Coloradans around water challenges, to bring fresh voices to the conversation and build a collaborative network across communities.

Trout Tank Sustainability

In 2021, TGF collaborated with the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce to host Trout Tank Sustainability, a business accelerator program for environmentally-minded startups and hosted a special virtual water session for all participants to learn about Colorado's unique water situation. Over 18 start-ups applied to be part of this year’s cohort! Congratulations to Transform Energy for winning the pitch competition! This start-up utilizes a market-based approach to end poverty and climate change, creating micro-finances to generate green coal, a clean coal replacement.

TGF also collaborated with Denver Startup week to co-host a virtual Happy Hour: Clean Tech, Clean Water, and Clean Communities that had over 100 attendees!
